The main unofficial reasons is : control of oil & gas.
To get there, there is a lot of unethical & unjust things which need to be done. Things which need to be dressed up with honest intentions : democracy, human rights, etc.. :-)
Iran’s current regime is the real ‘’big obstacle’’. Several Middle East politicians asked ‘’to nuke’’ Iran. The risk is a small WW3. Maybe will they think it is worth the risk, as most deaths & destructions will not be western… ;-)
Once Iran is ‘’out of the way’’, the Saudi Arabia ‘’ally’’ will be dealt with next.
Western Media will continue to generously feed us with the ‘’appropriate’’ stories. So, we will claim to be OK with our Moral Values.
