Humans are always prone to dominate/ rule.
But they also are moral animals. Therefore, they need to dress domination with honest intentions. Here comes Religions. It is used as a mere tool. But most ‘’soldiers’’ also are tools without knowing.
During the last few centuries, the most important colonizations (most devastating from the point of view of the indigenous people) were : Australia, North America, Africa, Middle East, and South America. All of them ‘’perpetrated’’ by Christian-structured brains.
The declared intentions always were honest. Also slavery was OK, as the Book does NOT condemn it (instead, there are plenty of rules in the Old Book which describes appropriate practices of slavery). Anyway, even when slavery is condemned, dark-skinned or non-Judeo-Christians still are more likely to be discriminated against.
Nowadays, colonization is transversal. It is called Liberal Economy.
It is what I call a ‘’religious outgrowth’’ : a new religion without morals. Its main beliefs are borrowed from Judeo-Christians : faith in the future ; development through growth ; availability of ‘’ressources’’ available for humans to use. Humans are one of the many ressource. Of course, the Pope Françis condemns the ecological & moral consequence of it all through his encyclical “Laudato Si”.
Humans often condemn the effects of the causes they treasure.
