One should read the declarations of Ayelet Shaked (Justice Minister). She wants the Nation-State Bill to be enforced (as a first step). Then, to apply it to the West Bank (it is already almost in place through the military laws). If they manage to get rid of the Gaza refugees (through Egypt), then Israel will control Gaza with reduced population (& will also control the Gaza offshore oil reserves). Israel could grant WestBank & Gaza with the title of ‘’State’’ when they will in fact be a protectorate with no independance at all.
And that is what the ultra-religious want explicitely : Genesis 17:8 (from Jordan River to the sea). But there is also Genesis 15: 18 to 21. (That is from Euphratus to the Nile). And all the US plans ro ‘’redraw’’ the Middle East lead precisely to this.
Who can resist the only nuclear power in the Middle East ? (several hudreds of operational nuclear warheads) ? Saudi Arabia did not understand that, in the long run, Iran is their ally !!
The israeli constant territorial expansionism policy is quite disturbing for a State that claim to seek peace. Also, The fact that, since 1948, Israel has not defined its State Borders reinforces & somehow justifies the concern.
Henry Kissinger (Nobel Prize 1973) underline that Israel’s positions have a pattern which reinforces the passions which a peace process is supposed to overcome. He adds that the palestinian question is a major piece of the regional order and, ultimately, of the world order. (ref. his Book on World Order/ 2015).
Following the 1967 israeli attack, the General De Gaulle said : « Occupation is inseparable from oppression, repression, deportation, and the resistance movements will be qualified of terrorisme by the occupant. » And we’re still there, aren’t we ? The resistants are there because their country is illegally occupied.
What is most disturbing for me is the fact that the US is approving it all. The US is losing its credibility. It benefits Russia &China. People may not like them, but they are far more predictable & reliable !
