We live in cultures where women traditionally are in the background.
Even in several Holy books, they are « wife of … », « daughter of … », « sister of … »…
They are there to cooperate, assist, help, …. but obey.
But, even the Holy books say a lot of things which are contradictory.
Therefore, the hing to do is to invent a new reading of the books, which separates what is description of the traditions of the time, and what really is the word of God. Within the last decades, muslim women from several countries are trying to promote a feminine reading of the Book.
I think that, this kind of approch can help (among other political/ cultural actions).
