There is a fundamental difference between « the civilized » and « the savage ».
The « SAVAGE» often is an Animist. For them, each Being (living and non-living) has a spirit. And each spirit must be respected.
Their Vision of the world places humans among other (living & non-living) Beings. It is an horizontal Vision of the world, where we humans are not worth more than the other Beings.
The “CIVILIZED”, instead, often (at least in the West) places humans just below the caring attention of God. And God created living & non-living ressources only for them to exploit.
Their Vision of the world is Vertical. And they are on the top, of course. Just like a spoiled child who want everything, now !
