Democracy = Equal Rights for all citizens

A democracy is not only the “Right to Vote”.

In the Middle East, there are a lot of Religious States (where there can be a “right to vote” for all citizens) where the laws are strongly influenced by the “official religion”. And everyone (believers of all faiths, together with non-believers)must follow the quasi-religous rules.

Often there are restrictions for minorities. For example, the rights to own a piece of land, or the right to practice a specific profession, or being allowed to express an opinion on specific subjects , etc etc

Israel claim to be a Democracy.

In the past, discriminatory Laws have been passed, thanks to the government coalition with the religious extremists.

Now, we can say that Israel has drifted so far that is is a quasi-religious State.
